The Chanel logotype is an interlocking double-C, one facing forwards the other facing backwards. (Originally it was not a logo that Coco Chanel came up with) This derives from the name Coco Chanel. "Coco" is the nickname frequently used by Chanel founder, Gabrielle Chanel. The logotype was not trade-marked until the opening of the first Chanel stores.
